Yes, you may rent your Vacation Home out nightly or weekly through the on site rental management company, True Key Hotels & Resorts. If you choose to place your weeks in the rental program, it is often possible to cover some or all of your expenses. Especially if your week is in the peak season.
Absolutely, our internal exchange program, The Club, enables Bighorn Owners to swap weeks internally as well as travel to our affiliated resort in Parksville on Vancouver Island, Sunrise Ridge Waterfront Resort.
Buying full or fractional real estate at Bighorn Meadows Resort is just like buying conventional real estate. You are registered as owning a share in a specific strata lot at Land Titles and you have the option to sell it at any time. Re-sales are performed through a Real Estate office of your choice and listed at fair market value.
Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays depending on your rotation schedule. Your rotation schedule is determined when you are purchasing your Vacation Home.
The management company cleans all Vacation Homes, making sure that the property is up to standard for every guest. Everyone who stays at Bighorn Meadows is required to use this service. Whole, quarter, eighth and fractional owners are only charged for cleaning when they use their home and timeshare owner’s clean fees are included within their maintenance fees.
The owner is responsible for any damages they may cause beyond normal wear and tear. There is an ownership agreement that will outline the policies and guidelines for replacing/fixing damages. Management will collect and replace damages incurred from a rental guest.
True Key Hotels & Resorts, our management company, and their accounting department takes care of invoicing and collecting payment for the maintenance fees. A whole owner is a little bit different in that they only pay a strata fee to Alliance Strata and take care of their own utility bills.
Bighorn Meadows Resort has a Premier rating with Interval International, which is the highest standard of recognition through Interval International. This rating provides you with great trading power to exchange to over 1000's of resorts around the world with high standards of quality. In 2013 Bighorn Meadows affiliated with the Advantage Program, a program that also allows for exchanging and access to other travel benefits. As well, our internal Club allows for internal trading within Bighorn or with our sister resort, Sunrise Ridge Waterfront Resort on Vancouver Island. These exclusive membership benefits provide owners at Bighorn with more options to utilize their time and maximize their investment.
All costs are split equally by the owners of each unit, with monthly costs varying for each property. The following are part of the monthly payments: snow removal, gas, water, electric, sewer, cable, property tax, phone, internet, common area maintenance, insurance, refurbishment fund, etc. The expenses are all controlled and monitored by the owner’s association. If you are a whole owner, you are responsible for your own costs and a strata fee.

Over time, real estate tends to increase in re-sale value and timeshare typically decreases. Fractional projects have a larger focus on the quality put into the construction because of the high expectations of potential buyers. Timeshare projects tend to focus less on quality, incorporating more sales and marketing costs into the price.
